You can find the schedule for the remaining weeks of our Winter Season under the “SCHEDULE” tab — or click here –> milwaukeegayvolleyball.com/schedule.
Quick Update to the message below: Most all Rec and B division teams play their opening round tournament games this Sunday (Feb. 20) — with the exception of Team Hess and Woody’s Lumber Handlers, who will play their opening match against each other next week (Feb. 27). Sorry for the confusion!
==========
Congratulations to The B’s & The J’s, GAMMA and Sets On The Beach — divisional leaders after regular season play! They’re the teams to beat!
Head-to-head competition starts with our tournaments next weekend. Rec and B divisions play this coming Sunday (Feb. 20) to determine who will play in the championships in two weeks (Feb. 27). All BB rounds will be in two weeks.

AIDS WALK WISCONSIN —
Shannon from the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin (ARCW) will be on-hand this Sunday from 5:30 to 7:30 to register folks for AIDS Walk on Sept. 19. Please join your teammates and league-mates and walk with us (I hear some people have decided to wear their MGVA shirts as they walk the course!). You can also register on our team at: http://www.aidswalkwis.org/site/TR/Events/General?team_id=10413&pg=team&fr_id=1100. You are not required to raise pledges, so sign up to walk with us and show your support!
MGVA POTLUCK — Sunday, Sept. 12 • 3 to 5 p.m.
Have you been testing out your recipes so you have a delectable dish to pass?
Don’t forget — this potluck event is also where we will count up everyone’s “Red Card” punches to determine the amount we will donate to AIDS Walk. Each punch = 25 cents to help fight AIDS!
DONATION JARS —
Our cup overfloweth! We have been getting steady contributions to the Swearing & Serving in the Net Jar. We sure are good at making lemonade out of lemons! If you have been writing out IOUs, don’t forget to bring your change this weekend — plus a little extra in case you need it for this weekend’s match!
REFS —
At this point in the season, we want to give a huge hand to those participants who are doing double duty by helping out refereeing games, too. It sometimes can be a thankless task, but it’s nice we have as many people who are willing to make calls and help our matches run smoothly. Players: Remember that most of our refs are new at this and are not expected to be perfect — just consistent. Refs: Keep doing what you’re doing — we all appreciate you!
AND FINALLY —
CONGRATULATIONS to Milwaukee Team 1 (consisting of Garett K., Joe W., Chris T., Jonathan C. and Kayla) who took third place in the Madison Pride Tournament last weekend! Way to represent!
Sunday, February 7th might be a week off from play–but it’s not from volleyball!
Join league members and guests from Madison’s league for a skills night followed by pick up games and some going out to celebrate afterward.
I wanted to write a note hoping that your Holiday season is going well and explain what’s coming up for the rest of the season and beyond!
See you on the courts!
